The Twentieth Century - Housing

From the 1930s onwards the Urban District Council decide to develop the eastern end of the Parish with the building of three large housing estates with most of the tenants coming from the quarry district with its sub standard houses.

Further development followed with the building of two private estates in the 1970s.

The movement of people from the west, the fall in visitor numbers and a decline in those employed within the town had a detrimental effect upon the central shopping area of Pantyrafon.
Further loss of trade resulted with the opening of supermarkets in Llandudno Junction and elsewhere.
